I was driving the other day and noticed a clicking sound when I pressed down on the brake pedal. The sound is a quick clicking, probably around 5 to 10 clicks per second. The sound was either coming from the driver's side front wheel, or from the engine compartment. The brakes continue to work normally but I am concerned as to what might be causing this noise.

After a little bit of testing I have found that I press down hard on the brakes, the noise goes away quickly but if I lightly press on the brakes (sort of just lightly press on the pedal but don't apply more pressure) the sound continues for as long as I have my pedal depressed.

The clicking noise is at a constant pace and does not depend on how fast the car is rolling. It is always around 5 - 10 clicks per second.

I was thinking about the ABS system but I have no idea. No warning lights have lit up on the dash.

I took a look at the brakes for signs of wear but they appear to be good. I did not take the calipers off only the wheels and did a quick inspection.

If any one has any ideas as to what might be causing this noise I'd be greatful for any advice. Thanks.
