8.8 Splines???

Whats the advantage of having 31 splines from a explorer 8.8 compared to the rangers 8.8 with the i think its 28 splines??? I want to know the advantages of it.

The explorer axle has larger bearings and the 31 spline shafts are larger diameter, therefore stronger.

~The load is spread across more splines making them less likely to strip.
~The 31spl axle housing has bigger tubes making it stronger
~The 31spl axle housing 95-01 has disc brakes
~and as martin said, the axles shafts and bearings themselves are bigger and stronger

8.8 Splines???
