So I pulled into my driveway today and saw a cloud of smoke coming from under the passenger side fender. i opened her up to see what it might be, but found nothing. There was a faint odor of coolant but nothing was leaking and operating temp was normal. I did, however, find this random opening the the firewall just behind the block:

Wtf??

Does anyone know if there is supposed to be a hose here or something? Something was dripping out of it onto the header but i dont know what it is. Theres a bunch of drops that look like they hit and fried and left kind of very light orange spots on the header. I don't know what this means, but any info would be much appreciated.

Perhaps a heater box drain and a bad heater core?

Yep, that looks like the heater core drain. My '94 has one right there. It's there so that if your heater core springs a leak, the coolant runs into a plastic drain pan and then out thru the firewall instead of onto your carpet.

BTDT.

We have a winner! Jason wins the prize. (whatever it might be)

yep, that's the drain pipe from the heater core lower cover (inside the cab)
that drains any core leakage out of the cab.
