While underneath my '08, 3.0, regular cab Ranger (with the truck in neutral and the parking brake on), I was checking for play in the driveshaft and attempting to see if the slip yoke needed greasing.
During this, I pushed up on the driveshaft and both the driveshaft and transmission moved vertically (upward) a bit. It wasn't rigid as I expected it to be. There's a bit of play in both, together.
Is this "engineered in" and normal, to allow for some mechanical relief?
Thanks for your assistance.
