what tranny and cluch do i have?

i bought an 88 ranger 2wd 5 speed and it will need a tranny because its hard to shift to 5th gear and it doesnt have reverse(just wont go in) does anyone know what trans this is so i can go get one from a bone yard?
Another question the cluch seems to be at the end of the road. I recently bought a cluch for my 85 bronco 2 2.8 4 speed 4x4... will that clutch work behind the 2.9 too?

i assume that since you are asking about the 2.8 and 2.9 clutch compatitbility then the 2wd has a 2.9 in it.

'88-92 Rangers 2wd equipped with the 2.9 engine there were both
1)Mazda built M5OD-R1 (2wd Version)
2)Mitsubishi FM132 (2.9 2wd ONLY)

i forget what physical characteristics can be used to tell them apart. look at the tranny, it may have a tag on it somewhere that will tell you the manufacturer.

ahhh ok i see ill check it out... any other input on the no reverse and hard into 5th thing?

the fifth and reverse thing sounds like it might be in the shifter mechanism as opposed to the gears which should be easier to fix.

update! i have 5th and reverse working now. I just need to know if the clutch from the b2 will work in it or not..... plus my through out bearing is going.
