ok iv bin looking around the tranny forum for awile and i thought i had a parts truck for a manual swap but the guy wants a outragous amount for a rotted truck sitting in the busch so i might fix my auto. my trucks a 1988 ranger 4x4 auto and the tranny will over heet after i drive it for about 60 miles and it will spray oil out the seal and it leeks a little bit to. i no these arnt reliable trannys but its expensive to buy a new one and i cant find a replacement anywhere. so want to try replacing the seal or gasket in this and see if this is my problem, is there anything else that would make my tranny spray oil out and over heat? this only happined to me when i was towing a load of fire wood but i felt the truck should have been able to hall it. if i put a new gasket in should it be good to rolll ? or is it something internally? thanks
