Just took my 94 Ranger in to have the tranny rebuilt. It is a 4.0L with A4LD. What upgrades could have I done to make this tranny last longer this time.

Get a transgo shift kit installed at the same time.

TransGo part # SK-A4LD-JR
 
Okay, I looked it up.

Told my installer I wanted one added, he already had it on order. Also going with an upgraded torque converter.
