I have an 88 2wd auto. After driving up a hill when i got to the top I heard a bang and the trans went out. No forward or reverse. While I was coasting I put it in low and could feel it downshift but nothing else. The fluid was still red and did'nt smell burnt but there was some metal in it. I've had no other problems with the trans. Is it the converter or is it internal.
