Hello everyone,

I have a '96 2.3L and I'm trying to get it to pass the I/M Readiness for smog before the end of this month (2 days from now). I've heard several smog stations tell me I just need to drive my truck anywhere between 400-600 miles, but upon reading the owner's manual, I read the 11 steps to complete the cycle.

I bought an OBDII Scanner a few weeks back to know when it is complete, but I have not seen a single change in the status of the I/M Readiness. Currently, the OBDII reads:

Control Module
$10 SAE J1850 PWM
Since DTCs Cleared
MIL Status:..OFF

4 OK:
Misfire Monitor:..OK
Fuel System Mon:..OK
Comp. Component:..OK
EGR System:..OK

4 N/A:
Htd Catalyst:..N/A
Evap System Mon:..N/A
Sec Air System:..N/A
A/C Refrig Mon:..N/A

3 INC:
Oxygen Sens Mon:..INC
Oxygen Sens Htr:..INC
Catalyst Mon:..INC

Does anyone have any advice on this process or facilities that can diagnose whether there's something mechanically wrong that not completing the cycle? I was told my O2 sensors might be bad since they're not clearing, (which I was told is holding up the Catalyst completion) but functioning enough not to set off a Diagnostic Trouble Code.

When I e-mailed Ford, they sent me the exact same Drive Cycle recommendation that was published in my owner's manual. Any help on this situation is greatly appreciated.

Two months later, I passed smog. My O2 Sensor Monitor and O2 Sensor Heater finally cleared and everything went good. I didn't do anything that I wasn't doing before for everything to clear.

My Catalyst didn't complete yet, but (at least in California) you're allowed 2 or less modules to not be complete and still pass the drive cycle for smog.

After working on my AC compressor, I disconnected the battery. Now I just got P1443 showing up on my OBDII. Now I'm working on another set of problems, but at least I passed smog.
