ok found a great deal on an explorer with a bad trans thats an auto if i pull the dash and engine would the rest of the harness plug in as usual? (my b2 is a 89)

and what would i need to keep my b2 a 5speed
 
What year explorer?

You can swap in the 4.0, but you need to swap out the underhood harnesses and computer. The big plug on the drivers side will plug into your BII, but you may need to swap a few wires around.

To get it a 5 speed, you would need to get an M50D out of an explorer/ranger and swap it in.
(you could use your BII's tranny, which is probably an FM146, but it wont last long behind a 4.0)
 
92 i was goin to swap dash and all would i still need to swap the wires around :icon_confused:
