Hey guys,

We're forced with the retirement of the 96 x-cab. We'd really love to go out and buy an 08 vw jetta TDI, but they aren't out on the market yet. So, we're looking at used Focus in the interim.

Does anyone on here have or drive a Focus? If so, what are your thoughts? We're looking at maybe 03 to 06 with under 60k miles on it. Just something to get my wife around for a little while.

...On another note, the Trailhead is running strong with 174k miles on it. I'm looking forward to the 200k mi mark for some strange reason.

Thanks,
Matt

I have a 2002 focus 2.0 auto with 88,000 started with 25,000. Really no problems other then a alternater and a sensor in the trans. My in-laws have a 2003 Svt with a 6sp. The car runs good but the most people have trouble with the trans due to it being cable shift. I get 26-32 mpg with mine its 4-door coupe. My buddy once worked in ford dealer and like he said you have to take the grill off to work on almost everything even to relace a headlight. If I had to buy another one I sure wood.

01 Focus ZTS daily driver here. Love it. I've put about, 45,000 km's on it in a little over a year and a half. Great gas mileage, fun to drive (I've added a few bolt on's, CAI, short shifter, etc) Only problem I've ever had is the fuel pump went out in july after me and the wife got back from florida. Great car, I'd buy another (probably an SVT though!)

Had one of the stripped down one for a rental care twice. They are peppy little 4cyl and even though I am small had pleanty of room. If i was in the market for a commuter car I would look into getting one
