has any1 done a v8 engine swap in california with a newer model ranger? i am thinking about doing 1 if it can be done without too much hassle, or complications with cali laws.

guess no one in cali has done 1 with a newer ranger. probly cuz no 0ne wants a 4.6 piece of shit in their ranger. should have bought a chevy, oh wait im getting 1 for free.

yes I live in Cali and doing one right now. Im adding a v8 to the ranger and yes you will have no problem as long as the donor engine is from the same year or newer. take everything you need.

Well it sure sounds like he doesn't like the 4.6 which is the only option if he has a '03'. I'd love to drop one in but the wiring on those would be a real nightmare in that year. That three valve is a great motor but things get expensive if rebuilding.

I would do a 2 valve in a heartbeat, they are a very nice engine.
