1998 ranger wotn go in reverse

i have a 98 ranger v6 4.0 and yesterday i went to leave and put the truck in reverse and heard a sight clunk and it wont move while in reverse anymore. its as if it is in neutral, whereas i can move teh truck backa nd forth easily. any ideas?
 
ah my dads buddy just strpped my tranny and as he thought it was the reverse/low gear band. thank god its only bout a $100 cuz im basically jobless
