I have a 94 ranger. 4x4. 4.0L v6 ext cab.

im a senior in high school (about to graduate) and im starting to get some money for grad and other accomplishments. my truck is dented in several places like the bed and driver's door. Give me YOUR OPINION on what I should do. Im thinking about either

A.) Throw all my money in the bank for college
B.) Spend $1000.00 on the truck to replace the bad body parts, get newer seats, body lift, new headliner, fresh paint, new lights, ect.
C.) Keep saving til I can just get a newer truck.

If I spend 1000 bucks on it. How much do you THINK ill be able to do to the truck? I did find a bed today at the salvage yard for 300. is that a good deal? What would it cost to paint the whole thing? just the cab?

I think you would be better off throwing it in the bank for college. A decent paint job will cost more than that, and you'd be better off investing in your future than in the looks of your vehicle.

My opinion for what it's worth is that I would have to agree with that (well said, koda). Focus on your college education, my friend; it will have a huge influence on the rest of your life.

By going to college you will earn more money to spend on your truck.....

It's worth it.

If you like the truck, let me re-phrase that. If you LOVE yer truck and the dents are just dents, it runs good and ya plan on keepin it then just maintain it. Keep it clean, use nothin but the absolute best parts & fluids and when ya get that MBA or whatever go blow a large wad O'$$$$ on it and show it off!

I dropped out of college because of a car payment ..... dumbest thing I ever did.

Thanks everyone for the advice. I'm NOT being hard-headed. Im very VERY good with my money and IF i do decide to upgrade a little bit, it wouldn't wipe out my savings. I've been working and saving for a few years now.
So, IF i decide to upgrade, would you A.) work on the truck I have or B.) get a newer truck?

I'll tell you im leaning towards just fixing what I have because I enjoy having something I can take pride in. To me that means pouring blood and sweat into it.

That says a lot. If it were me, I'd keep it. But I'm kind of prejudiced because I like the older ones better; '83 through '94. Good luck, regardless of your decision.
