will 4.0 explorer fit in my 4.0 ranger

I'm about to buy an used engine for my 94 ranger and car-parts says the 94 explorer engine (and other years) fits. Will i have any problems with fitting it in the engine bay or connecting it to my ranger computer? And if it came off an auto tranny is there anything I have to do other than put my flywheel on it?

You'll probably want to use your electronics sensors and wiring.

Particularly the on-engine wiring harness

It is highly likely the Explorer will have SEFI and EGR.
If your Ranger doesn't have those things you do not
want to add them.

Other than that yes, it's the same engine.
It will even have the same injectors.

perfect fit! I did swap out the wiring harness. recommendations for next time.... swap out:
thermostat
temperature sender
oil pressure sender
water pump
....

So good I could cry. sounded like shit until I closed up the headers-to-ypipe. now it sounds perfectly normal. just have to find time to do a compression test. and put the hood on.
