I was told that is was possible to get over 600 hp from a 302 engine with upgrades. I normaly would have thought that was impossible the most i heard out of one of those is around 500 with some serious hardware involved. I am looking to drop one in on my ranger and was doing a little research before i dove in. Thanks guys!

Those things will make a lot more than 600 hp. If you turbo it they'll make 1000 easy

wow, i bet you would need a lot more room in the engine compartment than a ranger has to offer

I think the stock block becomes marginal at 500HP, no matter what the internals are. Big bucks for an aftermarket block from Dart or World Products or the new Boss block from Ford. 1000hp maybe at the strip with filled solid water jackets. There was a guy in York, PA running a 347 with twin turbo's in his Ranger. So reliable he would drive it to the strip, swap the slicks onto run and then drive back home the one hour trip.
