I think I just bought an 86' GT ranger?

Three days ago my brother found a range for sale online I checked out a pic of it and noticed that it had GT written just in front and below the door I about (expletive) when I saw that; had no idea there was such a thing as a ranger GT. So I looked up on it and saw that the GT was first produced in 86' I've been unsuccessful in finding pictures of an 86' gt to compare this one to just the 88'. I checked the VIN and it was factory 2.3 and I have a feeling the graphics were added but unsure.
Can someone help in making this hopeful GT official?
 
It could well be a GT but with it being an 86 it's not the same GT package that the 88s got. I can't remember all of the differences, but I know that the 86 would not have had ground effects, and it was more of a dealer add on package.
 
send us a link or the picture of the 86... I'm sure that someone would know here on TRS
 
if its a 2.3 then its not a GT .... those only came with a 2.9 and an 5spd

I guess they did come with an automatic......... huh ..... never seen one.....

Pretty sure its a re-paint or its just oxidized all to hell it did sit for 5 years and if you notice the pass. rear section is missing the graphics not sure what thats about but there she is guys put the word out and thanks for the help

Someone has just added that stripe to the truck. Not a real GT.
 
whats the vin number? you can decifer it and be able to tell
 
Was the GT a mid-year introduction in 1986? My Ranger brochure (print date 8/85) shows Ranger STX, Ranger XLT, Ranger XL, Standard Ranger and Ranger "S." That was the first year for the SuperCab so there's a lot of info on that. But nothing on a Ranger GT.

The gt was a mid year introduction of 1986 my print date reads 7/1986 built in Louisville, Kentucky.

GT or not, that is in good shape. I'd be all over it!

I wish there were more first generation Rangers around here in that kind of shape! I'd buy 'em all!
 
TRust me I already bought her for 180 dollars straight as all hell
