what do you guys use to hold up the headliner?

i know its a common problem in the rangers for the headliner to fall down on the drivers side (atleast that how it was for me and my other 3 friends) what is a good product to use i was thinking of getting the spray glue stuff but i heard it didnt work then i though maybe some 2 sided tape. i just dont want to put those darn coil pin tack things whatever there called any help is appreiciated.
 
3M spray glue has worked fine for me, but that's been in recovering the liner with new cloth.
 
I vote 3M spray glue as well, works well.

I would stay away from the push tacks, my fathers old jeep had them in the headliner and they never seemed to stay in the designated location (always seemed to get one land on my head, or sit on one).
 
One of the guys I work with has a ton of thumb pins holding up the one in his van. I swear there are more pins than headliner showing now...
 
All the 3m glue I found said NOT to use it on headliners. I bought some loctite heavy duty spray adhesive. Comes out in almost a string. Worked VERY well. Bought it at the local craft supply store.
 
i tryed spray adh. with home depot. name on it... didnt work once it got warm...
 
If the foam is breaking down then your better off stripping it to the backer board and recovering it with new material.

I've used Weldwood Carpenters Contact Cement. It worked great, you've just got to be careful how much you apply... it can eat away foam.

Thanks kcm1582 for the tip on the Permatex adhesive. I'm going to remember that for the "next" time...
 
Did a headliner in my old Sundance a long time ago. Held for years (over 5). Not sure after that because the car was sold. Used 3M glue designed for headliners. There is a difference, make sure to read the instructions first. I remember having to glue both the cloth and headliner itself. Make sure the old foam is completely removed because it falls apart into dust. I did the car headliner by myself when I was a dumb 16 year old, should be a piece of cake with only that small of area to cover. :icon_thumby:

that would look pretty sweet with nails coming out of my roof huh. but thanks on the
3M glue thats what i was planning on getting and im not sure what part is falling off i belive its just the fabric not the foam.
 
3M 80 is strong and made for headliners. Works great. Use per the instructions.:beer:
 
Mine is disgusting, dirty & more than likely moldy by the looks of it. It's getting stripped down to the board & recovered.

I have super 80 adhesive I purchased to re-do a pool table & I've used it on door panels. It's what I'm planning on doing the headliner w/.
