I kinda figured that, I was thinking timing and other stuff because some classmate who has an s10 wants to race me on Friday he says he has a Chevy 2.3:icon_rofl: in it (probably a 2.5) and he brags a lot about his vehicles and I just want to smoke him to shut him up:headbang: with a stock (or close to it) 2.3 and a lot of people say that my truck is the "Golden Turd" since its a gold colored 4-banger ranger and not a v6.

Thanks anyway Shadetree!

Try 3 things. Mufler, Seafoam, and cleaning the MAF. That should gain you a little somethin.

if u only need to win one race I say Nitrous! :D just turn it on, and if he starts to win, spray the N20....25-30shot would do it.

Disclaimer: I wouldn't do this to my truck, as it'd likely come apart...but We're not talking about my truck.;missingteeth;

cost me about $800 to put my turbo on...

no MAF on an '87

want to be faster off the line? put on a pair of shorter tires in the back, your top speed will be lower, but it's the same thing as putting lower gears in the rear axle...

port,polish, shaved head, bigger cam, clean IACV and throttle body, drill holes in bottom of airbox, k&n filter, new style tube manifold, flowmaster or thrush muffler...few things i could think of...turbo and cams are the best power adders imo.

just to mess with him I think I'll put a couple zipties on his drive shaft:icon_rofl:
but otherwise I'll just do simple modifications to my truck like port and polish on the stock intake and exhaust and other stuff

:icon_idea: Oh! what about an air compressor thats fed into the throttle body?
like an on the spot boost (cheap mans nitrous)
and Thanks for all of the posts!

My credo
If you can't go through it or around it, then go over it.

gearing...... if his engine is stock its going to come down to gearing.... if you got those 3.08s you are not going to win........ you need 4.10s ...... swap in an explorer axle..........
