the worst part of the whole install was trying to plug the mic into the side of the CB. It take some time and some choice words, and my hands are pretty small.

I mounted the antenna on my back rack, that way I dont have to worry about drilling holes in my cab or sratching the paint with a magnet mount

I don't have any pictures of mine, but it is setup almost exactly like PlumCrazy's is set up.
I used the power to the cigarette lighter to power the CB too.

I love the way it looks now, but I am planning on getting a newer Ranger that will have the newer style dash, Then I will have to find some other clever way to mount it.lol. I am thinking about putting in a full length center console and mounting it in there some where, but I want a manual too so it will be interesting.
Dogboy, If you pull power directly from the battery it will be a much cleaner source of power and sound a whole lot better.

I have a tiny cobra that actually fits above my stereo I am hoping to eventually get a plate in there to mount my auxiliary switches. unfortunately I don't have any pics at the moment however i mounted my antenna on my bumper.

the plastic thing fell off the bumper so i just made one of the holes bigger.

i have a galaxy 44 mounted underneath the ashytray of my 92 it is manual and texas star 667v linear tucked nice and comfy between the shifter and 60/40 seats. I run a 4ft firestick tuned in and good swr with 18ft of rg8-x coaxs with fiberglass amphel ends with 8ga power wire running to the linear and 12ga heavy duty power wire running to the galaxy(home made). i will post pics as soon as i figure it out. the antena is mounted on the bedrail next to the tailgate so i don't get no interfernce with anything such as swr's. i work on radio's and tuned everything with a mfg meter one of best on the market. o'ya if anyone is interested in anything radio wise i wouldn't care to give anyone on trs a good deal i am setup as a dealer with many company's and cut the heck out of radioshack and most of the e-bay.

I'll post my new set up soon. Just installed today. Didn't like the mounting location of the antenna or the antenna itself, but I can change that when I get my headache rack made in a few weeks.Got the Cobra 25 NW LTD Classic with night watch illumination front panel.Had the adjustment done to the antenna by the shop today and having the power done in a few weeks.
HERE ARE THE PICS.

No pics but my '88 had a Uniden 510 mounted to an overhead console.
My latest one isn't installed yet but will be between the seats on the hump, too big for anywhere else.
The location depends on three things, the size of the radio, if you can reach it and do you like it, said and done.
Get good grounds and tune the antenna are two more things to thin about.

Sorry to bump an old thread...
Here's where I settled on for the Uniden 68 in my '97.
http://i170.photobucket.com/albums/u278/john112deere/th_IMG_1562.jpg (http://s170.photobucket.com/albums/u278/john112deere/IMG_1562.jpg)
Wilson 1000 mag-mount with a short-load whip stuck on the roof, with the wire run out the high-mount brake light.
Trying to decide what to do with the '09 I just bought; since it's got buckets I can probably just stick the radio between the gearshift and console. Antenna is a little trickier, but I need to decide what sort of bed accessories (tonneau, bedliner, headache rack?) I'm going to put on it before I figure out antenna mounting. Keeping the overall height under 6' 8" would be ideal, so I can park in the garage (and out of the snow) at work.
I should just pull the Uniden out of the '97 and put it in the new truck...the '97 is too old for highway trips, anymore. :( But, since I hacked the headliner to install the radio, I don't really want to do that while I've still got the old girl. (She's my baby...) Maybe the '09 will stay radio-free as long as the '97 stays running.

I dug around, but I couldn't find any pictures of what it looked like with the headliner down. Don't think I took any, now that I'm thinking about it- it was a hot, miserable day and my back was killing me, so stopping to take pictures wasn't too high on my priority list.
Here's the rest of the pics I have of it installed, though:

It's about 2" narrower, as I recall...and that 2" is a big part of the reason I've got a Uniden 68 not a 78 in that truck.

Cheap. Don't recall exactly, but it was maybe $15-20 at a truck stop. My radio is already set up for it, so all I had to do was mount the speaker under the hood and rout the wiring while I still had everything torn apart.

I had mine mounted in the dash where the ash tray was too, but then I got a bigger radio that didn't fit in there. I just bolted it to the trans tunnel on the passenger side. It was just a little bolt, not much, did it while I had the trans out.

I can't see a CB on the ceiling between the visors in a Ranger. I feel like I'm cramped enough as it is. Mine is on the ceiling in my B2, but it's behind the front seats.

I'm going to mount mine between the visors. I test fit it, and yea, it was way too far forward and felt like it was right in my face. So I moved it back towards the windshield and used the small holes that are normally used for the microphone clip to mount the CB to the bracket. It fits MUCH better now and it's no more in my face than the rearview mirror is.
It's pretty much the only spot in my truck that allows me to easily see it, reach it, and adjust it while driving. I can't stand installations that don't allow for any one (or all) of those.
