I'm in the process of upgrading from my '93 ranger to an almost-identical '99 - both standard cab / 6' beds. I'd like to swap my trailer hitch over as well.

The reference I've seem indicate they won't fit - how different are they? How difficult would it be to make it fit?

Honestly, I don't see why it wouldn't fit. To my knowledge, they only changed the frame up by the nose/ motor, not in the rear.

If for some reason the hutch doesn't swap over, you can make it fit using a di-grinder, or chop saw, and a welder. How hard it would be, I don't know.

But I think it would fit.

I crawled under both last night - the frame on the '99 is a bit different, but I think it will fit. The '93 frame is completely flat, while the '99 is formed a bit. Worth a shot, anyway.....

I'm planning on working on it this weekend, and I'll post the results.

You may have to grind off the back edge of the mounting plate on the hitch to make it fit. Just don't grind the lip off the frame of the truck to make it fit.

the design of the spare tire carrier and the width of the fram make it not fit , i just went through the same thing with a 01 F150 , guy wanted the hitch off his 94 on there , the hitch was too wide , and the hitches on the newer body style are curved tubular to fit around the spare tire
