I just got done puting a C4 in my '86 extended cab 4x4 2.9 ranger and i need some help on the wiring. The only thing i really need is the nuetral safety switch but it would be nice to wire everything possible. So somehow i need to figure out what all the wires do for the A4LD and splice them into the 4 wires from the C4. any ideas where i can find what each wire does for the A4LD and the C4?

how about a site that would have a tear down view of an A4LD, C4, or maybe the trucks wiring? I don't want to guess what they do in case i hook something up wrong because some wires tell the trans. when to shift so the computer is at risk here.

Use an Ohm meter and shift the C-4 to park and netrual, figure out what wire is you netural saftey on the trans, do the same for reverse.

Using the same idea, repete on the A4ld.

When I put a C5 into my explorer:

The wiring for the NSS goes like this. From the original A4LD harness. Take the red/lt blue striped wire, and splice it to one of the red/lt blue wires on the C5 switch. Take the Pink and red/white striped wires and splice them to the other red/lt blue striped wire on the C5 switch. The other 2 wires you are left with are the black/purple and black/orange wires for the reverse lights. Simply match them with the remaining wires on the C5 switch.
