Planning on replacing my thermostat and all of the manuals/repair guides and online entries I've read have given me the idea it is a easy job. I've had this notion before however that turns into a all day affair. Are there any demons that present themselves when performing this replacement?

Nope, its pretty easy to do.

Make sure to clean the edge/gasket seat of the hole, wiping AWAY from the hole. Be sure all the old gasket is off.

Good tip Army will do.
Attempted yesterday but had bad sized extension on ratchet and the damn A/C hose that runs across the front kept me from getting at the other housing bolt.

Attempting once more today (bout 30 mins actually)

Well I replaced it finally. Thanks for tips....
However it was more of a pain than I assumed. I think it had to do with the limited tools too.

Old thermostat actually snapped in half when I pulled it out. I also replaced the ECT. One manual I read said I should disconnect the negative battery lead; was this to reset the computer or just for saftey? Should I reset the computer?

they say that for everything in those books...
