4.10 and 35`

hey people, i`m having and another mod. in my truck,
is a question
what do you thing about using 4.10 gears, 35 tires, in 4.0L, 5 speed ? the truck its 94
85 % in the city and highway 15 % off-road (not craw)
some times maybe in the highway i can load about 500 kilos( 1100 pounds )
power ? (lost or more )
mpg ?

I would use 4.88 gears instead, or at least 4.56s if you're re-gearing.

If I understand correctly, you have 4.56 now and want to switch to 4.10? No, that is a bad idea.

i`m going to change to 4.10 becouse i can`t find here in Chihuahua 4.88 or 4.56 i need to buy in usa
and second is a dairy use, i cant wait a week.
if i use a 4.88 its going to be slower ? with 4.56 and 35 i`m going sleeping in the highway i can`t go more than 2600 RPM becouse the motor drink gas like an alcoholic

4.10's and 35's are weak even with a V8, I would use atleast 4.56 or go down in tire size to 33's. 33's and 4.10s would be livable..... not decent but livable.

2600 RPM is the ideal RPM for the 4.0L to spin at for fuel mileage. 4.56 would be OK, but 4.88 would be even better.

4.88 ftw! i've got 'em.

honestly....it's 'manageable' having 4.10 and 35's with the 4.0. But definately not whats best for mileage or drivability or even drivetrain.

Whats with your sig? Says youve got 4.56's?

4.56's,4.0L,5spd and 33's net me aprx 17-19 MPG on avg with mixed driving.and most the time my tach sits at 3g's

I ran 35;s w/4.56's for a bit and my truck was lazy. not horrid but lazy.and millage went to about 15 on avg.I only put about 1,000 miles on that combo.

4.10's would be a slug w/35's

if you already have 4.56" why in the world would you get 4.10"s.....? that would be even worse. The bigger the gear the lower it is which is what you want for bigger tires.

If you read he blew up the 4.56's and he would have to get them in the states, if he was to replace them. Sounds like 4.10's are available.

Go with it.

I was running 3.73 and 33's for 2 years and I was averaging about 22 MPG. With a 4.0L and 5 speed.

I've got 4.10's now with the same 33's and I have yet to check the mileage.

Next set of rubber I'll be going 35's.

ok i have installed today
i went to some place close to the city(60 milles), the MPG is really good and i can go faster
now i need to change the front to 4.10.
and next, something to the motor, to have more power. i`m studing all the topic`s about turbos and superch

Do the math...

What tire size did you have before the 35, lets assume 31's.

New tire 35/Old tire 31= 1.12 ratio of change.
Old gears 4.10 (OEM) x 1.12 = 4.59.
it boils down to 4.56 at a minimum to maintain the original performance.
4.88 should still work with 35s and give you a little more power in the low end.
I do not believe there is a 4.27 gear ratio but that would be right at the break point for good overall performance.
