the Hurst shifter runs $275-$325 depending on where you buy it.
I lucked into one that some jackass left on their truck when they junked it...
(Gotta love U-pull-it) junkyards.... (NO, my shifter is NOT for sale get stuffed!)
the FX4 shifter offers a chrome lever and a screw on knob.
the Hurst Billet plus shifter offers that plus MUCH shorter
shifter throws and a somewhat more precise feel.
Hurst claims it "reduces shifter throw BY 30%", I think they meant to say
it "reduces shifter throws TO 30%"...
All I know is I could run it through all five gears even if my elbow
were superglued to the armrest.. and I could use either my wrist
or fingers to make it go...
Frankly even though I didn't pay ~$300 for it I consider it worth the asking price.
Especially since installation requires eliminating those pesky shifter bushings that fall into the trans, get ground up by the gears and block the internal oil fed passages.
On the downside the shifter transmits quite a bit of noise into the cockpit
that never made it in with the original shifter and sound insulation in place.
and that noise is from BOTH the trans and the T-case.
Unfortunatly the fluid in my T-case which was supposed to be clear
and bright cherry red came out plum colored metal flake.
So the shifter transmitting noise transmitted noise that I
otherwise wouldn't have been aware of...
I'm working on that problem now...
(both the T-case and the noise transmission)
