I was wondering if the 94' Explorers have LS? And if so, would i be able to swap it under my 02 Ranger? I'm guessing i'd have to relocate the shock mounts? But i'm main;y concerned about the LS, cause i can't find any rangers in the junk yard, but there's planty 'o' exploders. Thanks

Explorers were sold both with and without limited slips.

Explorers don't have shock mounts they have swaybar mounts because on an explorer the shocks mount to the lower spring plate.

also remember that an explorer has it's spring mounts on the wrong
sides of the axle tubes, because Explorers are "spring under"

Okay, so just for reference, what style exploder am i looking for? I know i'd like to find an FX4 read end out of the ranger... but looks like i might be choosing one out of an exploder, so i got to get it right!

All explorers have the same 31 spline 8.8.

91-94 will have drum brakes.

95-01 will have disc brakes.

02-09 will be indendant rear suspension so thats of no use to you.

You will have to look at the tag on the diff or the axle code on the door post tag to see what ratio and if it has a limited slip or not in it.

As allan stated, you will need to be able to weld or have someone weld on shock mounts to the axle tubes, as well as cut off the stock spring perches and have them rewelded ontop of the axle in the correct location with the correct pinion angle.
