I take welding class. I have access to metal and equipment. I need to put a c-notch on as I bottom out on the bump stops every once in a while. I wanna make it big enough so that I can still lower the truck, but not too big where I have to cut the bed. What size metal should I use and should I MIG or stick weld it. Would I have to measure myself or could someone give me some measurements?

There are bolt in notches available if you are interested in those. Other wise 2.5" is usually the normal size for a static drop. I would go with mig welding but use whatever you feel more comfortable with.

Are you going to bag the truck? Also those are crooked for like a chevy frame just fyi and yours will be straight but you can buy 8 pc notches allready made. Most notches are all 1/8" some times but more less 3/16 on the sides and 1/8" top and bottom You can also use rectangle tube as well 2x4 1/8" wall or 2x3 3/16" wall.

I think I'm going to use box tube with mitered angles welded to make the next notch I do. That is unless someone comes out with a weld on notch that's tailored to fit ranger frames...

I plan on bagging the truck in about 10 years. Lol. I Want the notch to be big enough so that I have room to drop it more because I do plan on going lower. And with me making the notch its going to be completely free for me.

After doing some measuring I'm only gonna do a c-notch. How will I be able to make the curved part? Using a piece of a pipe?

Also, how long should I make it? I couldnt get good measurements with the tire in the way. I'm guessing about 8 inches?

Some guys use bolt on ones made for s-10s. Sounds like it would suit your needs for now.
