which t-5

i dont have anywhere to go wheelin anymore, so im thinking about turning the 5.0 ranger back into a 2wd just to have something fast to play around in. right now, it has a c-6 transmission. what do i need to go to a T-5, and what would be a good year and model to pull a trans from?

Mustang. Fox bodied mustang. Thats about it. The T-5 is actually a little light duty for the weight of the Ranger. All the parts are available to make it a bolt in though.

where does the shifter end up sitting in the cab? to far forward, to far back? its goin into a 2wd, so the goal is to make it not too heavy...

The shifter ends up being about 6-7" back from strock position. Here's a good place to learn about all the differences in the T-5
