I have a 92 that I recently put a rebuilt Mazda M5OD-R1 in and I have noticed that 4th gear is having some issues. When I shift to 4th it goes in fine but it goes beyond the shift point and when I let out on the clutch and hit the gas it pops back to the shift point or it even pops completely out sometimes. My issue with third is that it goes in fine but I don't know if it is completely going into it shift point because it way to easy to pull it out of gear w/out using the clutch even when you are on a hard accel or decel. Any help would be great.

Sounds like your rebuilder installed the 3/4 synchronizer collar backwards. Time to take it back....

It didn't start having problem until 25,000 mile after I installed it. I drive a lot and have put over 25k on it since january. Do you still thing that is the issue, the transmission also seems to get really hot in the summer whether it feels like the heater is on but it just hot air coming from under the boot.

January (or 25000 miles) isn't a recent rebuild.

Your boot should be airtight. You will see (some) engine heat there.

Are there any noises accompanying this problem?

It's unquestionably a transmission problem, so it needs to come out regardless of what it is. Guessing isn't really very helpful; the answer is whatever inspection shows, regardless of what might be "likely."

With that kind of mileage, warranty is probably out of the question. So, you need another transmission. A post-mortem is probably a good idea, to prevent this from happening again. And you might find an assembly error, in which case, I would suggest going after the rebuilder.

Let us know the results please , I am having pretty much the same problem. I just bought a 91 Ranger with 22,000 kms (14000 miles ) on a rebuilt M5OD that pops halfway back to neutral (stays in gear ) and needs to be positively put into gear or it stays out and chatters.
