I'm thinking about swapping my automatic for a manual. Any opinions? Suggestions? And a list of what I'd need from the salvage yard would be helpful!?

Well worth the swap from what I have read (I'm going to be the swap here soon, too). Especially if you have the garbage A4LD auto tranny. But I would wait until the tranny you currently has goes kaput and then do the swap. I'm just waiting for my A4LD to kick the bucket. But tranny-wise, the M5OD from Explorers are very solid, that's the swap that most go for. You can also do the FM145 or FM 146, both are pretty ok. But if you're going to be doing the swap, you may as well do it right and put in the M5OD. Check the tech library and then search the forums and you'll find that this has been covered a lot and you can find some nice information about it. Good luck!
