i got a 99 ford explorer 4.0 in my 95 ranger and it has a vacuum leak somewhere, idles around 1500-2500rpms. i know when doing the swap that the explorer had vacuum operated hubs and so there was a extra line but i put a screw in that and taped it all up real good and nice. what else could be causeing my vacuum leak? any takers?

One of the easiest ways to locate a vacuum leak that is being difficult.

Get a propane torch. Don't light it. Start the truck. open the valve on the torch and wave it all over the suspect vacuum lines. When the unburnt propane gets sucked into the vacuum leak the engine will rev up some. there are other products you can use. Just about anything that sprays in a fine mist and is very flammable works.

Propane doesn't leave anything behind usually so its a good choice.

alrighty i will try that tomorrow... i shoulda used the smoke machine when i had access to it for school. dern. oh well yea i will try the propane thingy tomorrow and hopefully i can find it real quick like. thanks.
