Hi, hoping someone can help me with this problem I'm having.

2.3l serpentine belt tensioner broke while changing the belt. New ones at auto parts stores look totally different. Are the aftermarket parts that different, is there something I'm missing? My Ford part number is F27A-6B209-BB.

Any help would be soo appriciated, I'm really needing this fixed ASAP.

Thanks
Paul

What exactly looks different about them? I'm not clear on what the specific problem is here.

Ok, the new one is completely enclosed with a regular bolt maybe a 13mm or so. The old one has a torques head and looks to have the spring tension being held by part of the bracket.

nevermind

Well I guess I'll answer my own question, hopefully helping someone out as well. Seems the new ones are sealed up, but its the same part, just looks kooky till you pull the old one off.

Also, if anyone is having problems getting a new belt on and they have the 2.3l with AC and PS, have one person hold down the tensioner and leave the belt off the AC, then start at the bottom of the AC unit start it then you will need to pull/roll the belt on, its a job but its the only way I could get it on!
