I have an electronic shift transfer case and the controller is working sometimes and not other times. not very reliable. the truck has manual hubs, i'm thinking it would be nice to convert to a manual transfer case. just a few questions. can you convert an electronic shift to manual? if not what are the requirements and issues with swapping in a manual shift transfer case. Any help would be great.

Simple. Put in the C-5 and cut a hole to put in the stick. When it comes to the electronics, there aren't any. It's a great swap.

but The C-5 is a transmission?

if you are going between a borg warner 1350 or 1354 electric, to a 1350 or 1354 manual, then it will be a bolt in deal. depending on where you get the manual you may need to fabricate your own shift linkage and of course cut a hole in the floor for the shifter to come through. if you pull it from the donor vehicle, then you wont have a problem getting the rest of the shifter components.

no. no. no.

no tranny swapping. no hole cutting. this is a 100% bolt-in affair.

you have two options: a manual shift 1354 or a manual shift 1350. the 1350 is much more common, but requires you to swap your front driveline to the somewhat less desirable slip yoke in case type. the 1354's are less common, and generally more expensive, but you can use your current front drive shaft.

you'll also need the proper floor trim plate (the hole is already in the floor, ford just bolted different plates under the carpet to make the hole the proper shape/size), and shift linkage. the 1354 only has one linkage available. the 1350 has a few options...only one from a m5od/a4ld will work.

the cheap way out is to take the electric shift motor off remove the ring gear that is on the head and use it to manualy swap to 4wd. Just roll under and twist. Your friends might laugh but its free.
