Was wondering if anyone knew if it would hurt anything besides maybe my ABS light being on if i left the tone ring off my carrier?

No, it won't hurt a thing. When I switched out the stock carrier and lockright setup for a detroit locker I didn't bother to swap the tone ring onto the detroit carrier. Funny thing is that it never set off an abs light.
 
i just noticed the same thing after i took the truck for a test run. I just plugged the sensor back in, and the ABS light never popped on once.
