i have a 85 ranger with a full bench seat in it now and im wanting to start shopping the junk yards for bucket seats...i read throught the tech librairy and im still kinda lost on which brackets i would need and from what truck to get them from...im just wanting to find another newer ranger and get the buckets from it but do i also need the brackets from the same donor truck as i got the seats from or do i need to look at other donors to get my tracks.. also do the tracks bolt in or are they welded in from the factory...when i go seat shopping i want to make sure i have cutting tools if i have to cut the seats from the donor...thanks for any help...

Have you considered seats from Corbeu or other Aftermarket manufacturers? Sometimes ya can get a sweet deal on them and you can get seat frames to fit your exact floorboard.

If your truck has a full bench and you want buckets, you'll need the seat tracks from a Ranger with buckets (or the split bench).

Basically, you now have only 2 tracks. You're going to need 4, 2 per seat.

Once you have those, find seats you like from the list and bolt 'em on.

I have Thunderbird TurboCoupe seats in mine and I Luv 'em. Best bang for the buck you'll ever do.

so if i found a good set of bucket seats from say a 92 thru 96 ranger, all i would need was the seats and the brackets with them..would i just set the seats in place and drill new holes to bolt them down or do they weld down..im hopeing i can get a nice set out of a 96 or so and leave the brackets bolted to the buckets and then set them in place , drill new holes and bolt them down...does that sound right..could i do this no mater what ford seats i find or is there more i dont see...thanks

i havent thought about it but if i cant find somthing nice out of a junk yard, i might have to check em out...the seats in mine are raged out...the interior is in good shape but the seats are gone...thanks for the heads up

Since your truck is an '85, I'd look for brackets from an '84 through '92 Ranger.

The floor may have changed on the '93 and up but I have no experience with that.

As far as which seats, the article in the Tech Library gives a pretty complete listing.

well i was going to the junk yard in the morning and i dont want to buy what i cant use...if i got lucky and found seats out of a 92 ranger, would i have to redrill holes in my floor board for the new brackets..also will the brackets in the donor truck be bolted down or welded...i wanted to know what tools i will need to bring with me to get them out..thanks for your help

Should bolt right in.

What doesn't work?

Can you post pics of what problem you're running into?

i finally got the seats in .. the outer hole worked ok , i had to bend the brackets a little but the inner holes i had to drill..the floor pan caused one side of the seats to not sit right but i bent and tweaked them and did some shimming but i got em in...seats look great and im very happy with the new seat mod. i will post pics as soon as i can...i also installed a nice carpet that i got out of a 89 ranger..worked perfect...all i need now is a console..any ideas on that subject...thanks for all the help

FWIW, really any seat can be made to fit.

My bucket seats came out of an old 60's Stang and had been fitted to the Mustang sliders because they were not the original seats.

I simply unbolted the sliders, did some measuring, cutting, drilling and came up with some 1/8" thick steel adapter plates that allowed me to attach the seats to my stock Ranger sliders. I was happy with how it turned out.
