I decided against getting a new cell phone, I'm keeping the self defense tool. Iphone is neat, but weird to type on. Blackberry has too small of buttons for my caveman hands, I don't have THAT much of a need for a sweet phone.
So I spent the money that I was going to use for a cell phone on a much better investment, an Xbox 360. Only problem, it made me realize how crappy my old TV was. I need something better. Are Vizio's any good? What about Westinghouse? I know they're not going to look like a $1500 Sony or something, but I'm not going to pay $1500 for a TV. I'm more worried about having it not crap out after a year, and have pretty good picture quality (milje going HDTV?). I guess like a 27" or 32" would be good.
Let's see what you guys like.

Honestly, there are a lot of very acceptable TV's out there. There is a limited number of brands I'd stay away from (Westinghouse comes to mind based on daily personal experience), and also a few that really stand out if you're willing to pay the premium (upper end Samsung models, for one example). However, the entry level products from companies like Vizio are still an amazing leap from a 480i tube tv and I doubt you'd complain at all.
If you are patient, you should easily be able to find a very decent 46" 1080p 120hz LCD for $1000-1400. Slickdeals.net is one place to keep an eye out - people post what they find around the net and at brick and mortar stores, then post them on the forums. I've found a lot of great bargains over there.

I got a 32" Vizio LCD. $450 at wal-mart. The picture quality is really good and when hooked up to hi-def, it looks just as good as any other tv on the market.

Don't buy a Westinghouse~!~!
A woman had one and one day she opened the door to find a rabbit on the shelf~! She wasn't thinking and just said "And what are you doing in there?".
The rabbit, much to her surprise, said back "Is this a Westinghouse?" and the woman, shocked, said "yes, actually it is a Westinghouse".
The rabbit looked up at her and said "Well, I'm Westing"...

How about this (http://forums.slickdeals.net/showthread.php?sduid=96428&t=1299501)? Solid name brand 1080p 40" TV along with a Blu Ray player for less than $900 shipped to your door.
