i know lots of people have talked about this, but i still havant found an answer to the problem. my TC is not always locking. sometimes it locks and sometimes it doesnt. or it will lock than unlock like 10 miles later and not lock again. or it will not lock and than lock up for a few seconds while im slowing down getting off freeway. i do know that is is shifting into overdrive, but its just having trouble locking. does anyone know what might be causing it?

Several things can cause this...TPS, dirty mass air flow, or speed sensor, could be a wiring problem also.Over drive and lockup are computer controlled. i know on my 94 Explorer that with a scanner i can get into data stream too see whats going on and you may need to do this.

ok thanks for the advice. i just have a question about that though, wouldnt it also cause engine to run bad if any of those sensors were bad.
i do no that my speed sensor is good(cruise controll works great so i assume speed sensor works)

Any of those sensors 'Can' also cause the engine to run badly. The TCC is designed also to disengage when the throttle plates close (reported by the TPS) and the brakes are applied (switched via the brake pedal).

Should be possible I suppose to use a test light...ground it..and use a probe into the feed line from the ECU that turns the TCC on/off.

i am not getting any codes for those sensors, and my engine runs perfect. could it still be a bad sensor if the engine is still running good? could it be the pcm?
