I'm clueless....

02 2.3L Auto Ranger was running perfectly, and killed on the road.

It will start and run for a few seconds and then dies. I've tested and changed the TPS sensor. I know it's getting fuel, seems starved for air, but still can't figure it out.

Any ideas?

I'm currently thinking it might be the CAM sensor and it appears I need a tool to adjust the crank? Anyone know anything that can help?

pull the codes and see if it will give us an idea where to start. you might want to check the fuel pressure.

It's not showing any codes...

It just idles... then gets rough and dies. If you disconnect the TPS sensor it idles longer but still dies.

I have a similar problem. I've read that the EGR might be causing the problem, but mine is new and i still have trouble. Starts fine, idles rough when stopping after driving a few blocks, sometimes enough to kill it, other times the idle speed is where it should be, but it's rough as a cheap hotel bed. Usually, this is only when ambient temps are low. Codes & other data (injector trim, etc.) is great. Once it's warm it runs fine.

Does it run fine with the throttle open?

If so I would look at the throttle plate, may need to be cleaned.

The reason I think so; with the idle control open at start up it runs, as it closes it runs rough then stalls when it closes. It is suppose to allow some air to pass to allow the truck to idle.

My whole intake system up to the throttle body is super clean, including the plate. The idle control valve might be culprit, though. I've tried to clean it with some Sea Foam. I'm not sure if if did any good.
