About this part...one side of the paddle that goes into the shift rail setup has a half inch tall flat spot machined into the narrower side right above the paddle part that moves the shift rails...does this go towards the front or the back when it's installed in the tranny? This affects which shift stick I need and am ready to buy a stick! Also what is the little metal thing on the left side down in the tranny but just above the shifter rail setup?

The tapered pin (bolt) either goes front to back (88-97)
which places the vertical (razor sharp) key groove at the front
OR the tapered pin (bolt) goes across the front (1998-up)
which places the key groove (still razor sharp) on the passenger side.

I think he's talking about the little trip toggle that prevents you from "shifting into 6th gear" at highway speeds:)
It's a little locking gate that requires you to shift momentarily into neutral after having been in 5th before shifting into reverse.

I thought thats what he was talking about. Also just a hint. If you do pull the inner shifter for any reason make sure the tranny is in nuetral.

That's it, thank you! The little flat spot that I'm talkin about is below the pivot ball on the shifter mechanism inside the tranny top plate with teh shift rails and all...think it engages the trip toggle mechanism that AllanD named for me here. If I have time I'll take a pic of it later.

Always do, thanks for the reminder though. Makes things alot easier. :)
