And I have to go back and get the skidplate off the tank! Finally found the skid I wanted, and it happens to be on a dual tank, with a carbed 2.3. Too bad they punch holes in all the tanks at this junkyard, otherwise I might consider getting the back tank.

you can still grab the other stuff people have a hard time finding. the straps and the sending unit aren't made anymore iirc

Forgive my stupidity, why do they punch holes in the tanks? To prevent fires?

Its there easy way to drain and air it out, rather than pull every tank thy get in. I hate it too :annoyed:

Yea, it sucks.. cuz the main tank was PRISTINE, less one large hole. And they sawed off the last 4" of the skid to punch a hole in the tank too. You'd think they'd just use the 1" hole in the bottom of the skid to punch a hole in the tank, but noo....

Oh well, got the skid, and it's fairly nice. It's definetaly $10 nice, which is what I paid. I can have the last bit welded back together at some point too(it wasn't completely off). This junkyard is pretty good about having Ford trucks there(80s/90s RBVs and F-series).

I'd buy the tank and weld it back up (if it is metal). Use it on the truck as a transfer tank to the main tank. Fill it from the main tank filler neck, secondary fuel pump on an in cab switch to return fuel to the main.

im pretty sure the older trucks had the wiring already there, all you would need are the switches, lines and valves. why make it a 'transfer tank' when you can run straight out of it?
