Just got back to school and pulled into the parking lot and was missing pretty badly at idle. I drove it a little bit today and is still doing it. Does not miss if help at a constant rpm, just idle. The exhaust does smell rich. Just wondering as to any ideas to cure the problem and what you would start off by doing. thanks in advance. 1991 2.3L apx. 164,000 miles

Check or test your MAF. then check or test the O2 sensor if you can. If its smelling rich and missing at idle The low RPM is allowing it to flood on of the cooler burning cylinders. Prolly putting out your spark temporarily. The wording might not be right, but it makes sense in my head. Ask around.

go put good premium gas in it. and run it for a day. sounds like a bad tank of gas.
