Had my exhaust welded in today. Needed a pipe shortened due to the fact that the kit was for a extended cab, so i had them weld the whole system in rather than clamping it together. Cost a bit of cash but i think will be worth it the long run. Not having to be worried about rusty old clamps and leaks and whatnot. Looks much cleaner as well. System sounds great! Great tone and loud enough without being annoyingly loud. In cab resonance is minimal for an aftermarket exhaust! no bad drone at cruising speed. Here are a few pics. Will take more when i get a chance to clean the truck up a bit.
My left tip is a bit messed up. Got crushed in shipping so i hammered that one fairly round for now but Gibson is sending me a replacement! excellent customer service!!

I have a Gibson cat-back also, slid right on no problem. I think they only make the ext cab system and expect you to shorten the mid pipe for a regular cab.
I picked up 3 mpg on the highway with it.

Man that bent tip makes it sound funny!

j/k! sounds great!

Thanks!
Ya,, that tip is really killing the whole thing,, haha
the tip was an oval when i took it out of the box, its half decent now. The company I bought it from wanted me to send back the whole system to send me out a new one.. JUST FOR THE TIP!!!! and I already had the exhaust half on the truck so they basically told me i was shit outta luck! so i told them where to go and how to get there and then sent some pics to Gibson customer service and told them the deal. And they they dealt with it right away and sent me out a replacement! i was impressed!

Good deal man. I would have blew a nut royally if i opened up a box I'd been waiting for and found a bent tip. I'm planning on making my own cat back system. I'll be doing 90 percent of the work since i dont have a machine to bend the pipe. Making my own chambered muffler out of 317 stainless steel and the pipe will be 2.25 inch stainless as well.

sounds like it will turn out nice! i was thinking about a custom setup but dont a pipe bender or anything to do it myself, so buying something that i knew how was going to look and sound and have it welded in was my safest bet! Probably cheaper as well with labor rates like they are here. It cost enough just to get that pipe bent and cut and the rest of it welded. But its somewhere where i trusted the work they did and i would rather have it done right than cheap!

Where did you get it done? Sherwood Exhaust does great work for stupid cheap prices. They quoted me single 2.5" in - dual 2.25" out magnaflow exhaust, with tips behind the tires and pulling the cats (to be replaced with HI-flows) for $320 last year.

That is stupid cheap! Too bad its so out of the way for me to leave my truck out there! I had mine done at Car Tunes. Its close to the shop i work at so it was convenient to leave it there for the day and was told they do really good work. But that is cheaper installed with the cats than mine was for the system itself ($500).

I am a Welder/ Metal fabricator and I work with stainless all day everyday. everything is going to be tig welded (I hope) and I can basically do what I want with the muffler. I'll more than likely take quite a bit of influence from flowmaster though. :icon_hornsup:
