800 is minimum I would run on that sub. The 500 watt rating is a joke IMHO...

I have 2-10"DVC Alpine Type R's and I run a fosgate amp to them. These subs are power hungry man, but they definitely pound.

Just look around ebay. You'll find deals. Just look for anything like Pioneer, Alpine, Rockford, or even old audiobahn stuff...new or used. Good quality doesn't have to mean expensive.

NEVER BUY A USED AMP! just get yourself a decent brand amp capable of pushing out at least 500 RMS @ 2ohms mono. NO BOSS, that crap should stay at the flea market. you cant go wrong with alpine, rockford, memphis, or JL. stay away from this crap: pyramid (pyramid of crap), pyle (pile of crap), boss, roadmaster, jensen, dual, namsung, audiovox, dynex, insignia, or any other brand that you have never seen/heard of. remember: if you buy some cheap crap for your car, then you have some cheap crap in your car. expect to pay $250 plus.

i had a Crunch 1000.1 run to my type r's and they beat pretty good but honestly if your on a budget hit up Total Mobile Audio (TMA audio)... they're made by JL and are half the price
