F350 body lift ?

Can anyone tell me why I can't find a 3" body lift for a 92 F350 (or any 350) 2wd with a desiel engine?? I can find em for gas, but not desiels, what gives?? What makes it so different. I've done a few BL's before, and the only thing I can think of no brackets for the rad...One of my BL's required trimming the lower part of the rad fan shield rather than dropping the rad...Any info??

It's because of the intercooler piping. I've looked for one for ages as well. I've been thinking of just getting a gas one and making whatever changes I need to the intercooler pipes for them to work properly.

Ford diesels don't have an intercooler untill 99-up. Its because of the core suport. The deisel has a large drop in it because of the masive rad. You couls run a gas truck body lift the only mod would be trimming the fan shroud bottom and maybe modifying or changing the rad hoses if they wouldn't work.

Yeah, mine's not turbo, yet, I have a factory turbo from a 94, I plan to rebuild the IDI turbo motor and turbo and install them in my dually, but I'd like a body lift rather than a suspension lift, want the extra space on top of the motor for the down pipe. Thanks guys

you can add an intercooler in those older trucks and get 50 hp or so extra on top of the turbo.. i wouldnt lift the body more than an inch or two and would drop the rad to fit directly in front of the fan to pull all the air possible through the rad...PS a few hockey pucks with holes drilled in em are an inch thick each....

I put a 3-inch body lift on my 1989 F-250 that had a diesel. Other than making sure you have fan clearance, the only problem I had was the motor hitting the firewall while backing up.

It's been a few years, so it's hard to visualize it now, but if I start backing uphill or anytime the motor had a load on it while it was backing up, there was a small spot on the back of the motor that would hit the firewall and make a thumping noise.

Hockey pucks are not designed for that kind of load nor do they stand up to the chemicals that engines get covered in.

yeah ...... hockey puck lift = bad Idea ...... anybody that has one needs to let me know what roads you drive on so I know where not to drive.

why would one for a 4wd not work?

And neither will the rubber body mount bushings... which is handy because it takes a massive catastrophic engine failure to get an engine's bodily fluids on either.

I agree, pucks are a bad idea but even my 2.8 that spewed oil everywhere couldn't quite reach the body mounts.
