as everyone knows times are tight and i would like to put a set of lockers in my truck my question is if u lock the rear do u have to lock the front too??

lockers

no you dont have to lock both differentials. ive seen trucks running front lockers and open backs, reaer lockers are probably the most common interchange though. an other question is how much street time does your truck see? a fully locked truck has more wear on asphalt than a regular truck a open front end and a limited slip rear might be a better option

I have a lock rite in the rear of my truck. in the last week I have put about 500 miles on it. Its not bad at all. Ive had it bang once so far in a parking lot..and clunk clunk clunk weaving threw a gas station getting to a pump, and doing a few u-turns. normal of any automatic locker.

My trucks a 5spd, and I can crank the wheels full lock and back it up in my driveway, if I'm carefull with out chirping the tires.

The only place I reallly notice it is, if Im pulling off from a stop light that's up hill and a really sharp corner. Then I get a little tire squeal.

The only thing I have found that could be, or get annoying is that you can not bog the truck down as much in a parking lot, while weaving around, with out putting the clutch in. Or it will start to lurch and little quicker vs being open.

if you learn the theory, understand how a automatic locker works and adjust your driving to it, you could almost never even notice it's there.

I've had the more street friendly "No-Slip" in mine for over 30K miles and never had a problem with it. Bought another one for the next project. For a DD, I'd just use a locker in the rear.
