140+K miles, should i re-ring ? and other rebuild questions

the engine came from a 1993 Explorer 4x4 and had 140K when pulled from that and dropped in a 92 Ranger, though he didnt specify how many miles he put on it in the Ranger. from the looks of it, it never ran after being in the Ranger.

i planned on only replacing rods and mains for insurance but when i looked into the cylinders, i saw rust on the walls and piston domes. so it looks like i might have to pull the heads off to clean em up. so is it worthwhile to re-ring it ? is there anything else i should address before i swap it into my 88 ?

as far as performance plans go, ill wanna port and polish the heads and port match the intake, cam it, and of course, ive already got headers. as for the cam, does the 410 require a chip ? what about the 422 ?

If your gonna take it down to replace the main bearings, you might as well and hone it and re-ring it while its down and out anyway.

if you got it down that far might as well go for the whole show. Don't want to have to do it 20,000 miles down the road. That my opinion at least.
 
The way I work is that whenever anything below the top end comes out, it gets new rings... Especially if it's getting news rods and mains it's just cheap insurance to go ahead and do rings also... That would be like changing plugs and keeping your original wires, sure it might work, but not like it could with everything fresh...
