Would a 99' 4.0L mazda m50d r1 work on a 91' ranger?

Would the tranny work? I know this tranny is used 1991-2000, yet will they mate the same? Thanks
 
It has the 4.0L OHV, and I know they made this motor up til 2000, yet it's not known to me if they changed anything.
 
All 4.0 M50D-R1's will work. The SOHC and OHV 4.0 have the same bell housing bolt pattern.
