how hard is it to change the output shaft seal?? (the seal where the rear driveshaft slides into the 2wd tranny)

and

when i pull my driveshaft out, will tranny fluid leak out if my truck is on a level surface??
 
??? need answer quick i wanna do this today

sorry man wish I knew, check out autozones website. they should have a section on repair manual info for cars/trucks and you could look up the steps of what you need to do. not the best, but hope it helps
 
I think its a matter of sliding out the drive shaft and prying out the old seal. Replace carefully. Fluid will leak if you let the tranny hang down. But if you prop up the tailshaft with a jackstand you should have minimal loss, keep a drainpan handy.
 
yes trans fluid will come out. and all you have to do is pull the d shaft and slightly bend the seal lip on outside of tranny with a screwdriver and hammer and pry out to put in find a piece of pipe or a socket to drive it back in
 
I have this chunk of wood that I use for replacing those seals. I drilled a hole through a piece of 2x4 that was just the right size to fit over the lip but let the rubber fit inside and then nailed another 2x4 on top of it for something to beat on. It's a quick thing to make for driving the seal if you don't have any larger sockets or pieces of big pipe laying around.
