Hey! I'm unfamiliar with transmissions in general. I have a 1999 Ranger 4wd with the 3.0 liter V6 and a manual transmission. For about a week, the truck will shake and shudder when I release the clutch in first and reverse. The truck has 175,000 miles on it with the original clutch (I'm assuming). It has gradually gotten a little worse throughout the week. Before I decide my next plan of action, I wanted to see if anyone could diagnose whether the issue is just a worn out clutch, or something else. Thanks.

I'd check u-joints on your d-shaft... Mine does the same thing and I know it has a bad universal (just grab the drive shaft on one side of the u-joint and grab whatever is on the other side and see if it moves when you twist)

There is no play in the u-joints. I'm still not sure what the cause of the violent shaking is. It's only at low speeds (taking off) in first and reverse.

Crap, mine does it too, but I figured it was just the universal... I'm stumped now... Might have something to do with your clutch, maybe the flywheel is not completely flat or something... Maybe someone else will know for sure...

flywheel has hot spots needs resurfacing
