Limit strap mounting on rear leaf axle

How do you guys that have leaf springs have your limit straps mounted.

I just picked up a set of used ones, and just want to get an idea as to where/how some are mounting them.

The truck will see some crawling duty so I want to have good articulation, but not to the point of deflecting springs and pulling shocks apart.

These are the ones I picked up. They are 23" long.

This is kinda what I was thinking of doing. Just not going double strap, or using the strap clevis.

What about welding a shock mount tab to the leaf spring plate and then running the strap from there to the frame on each side?

i would do them like in the pics you posted..angled oposing the axles movement and out by the shocks so there is less leverage on them..especially when crawling.

i would really look into the adjustable clevis or make one as the straps will stretch over time and if you have them so your close to having the shocks almost bottom out then when they stretch, the shocks will start bottomin out. specially if you do any high speed runs. If you run 2 straps per side it will lessen the stretch but they will still stretch surprisingly. As a rule of thumb, most straps stretch about an 1" depending on how many raps it has and how many you run per side. Damn, and all that for a freakin limit strap! lol

As for mounting, i like picture idea. Just be sure to double shear the mounting points (you would be surpised the hole it can rip in the axle housing from not double shearing :D)

Yes they will be but there will be some elasticity to them so I can mount them 1/2" from where I want them.

There is no chance it's going to pull the shocks apart I have lots of travel left on them. I just want them to stop the suspension. right now at full droop my shackle stops on the bracket. I don't want that to be my one and only suspension stop.

as copy cat said, they will still have stretch in them. even though they are used, that just means tehy wont stretch as much but being that they are made out fo kevlar (i believe) the straps will always have some stretch in them. Thats what keeps the strap its self from breaking.

Oh ok, then yeah id jsut make sure to double shear the mounting points and would really say to run the clevases. Having that little bit of adjustment is nice when measurments are just a bit off or you need to pull then straps up higher cause something is still hitting after you weld them in.
